We have five rooms at Semal, kept small on purpose so we can look after every guest properly. Each one is cosy and comfortable, with a simple modern feel that stays rooted in the colours and textures of the forest around us.

Expect plenty of natural light, fresh linen, and toiletries that are as kind to the earth as they are to you. We have made sure there are enough charging points for all your devices too. Small things, but we know they matter.

Garden rooms

Two king rooms at the quiet end of the verandah, with the garden and the field beyond it through the window. Morning light arrives early and the birds arrive with it.

Two beds, plenty of floor space for camera bags and boots, and the same verandah door as everything else. These are the ones friends travelling together tend to take.

The family room

Our largest room, with room for an extra bed and a corner that works well if you are travelling with children. Also the one photographers pick, because there is space to spread out and dry off gear.

The living room is everyone's room.

Help yourself to tea or coffee any time of day at the self service counter, put your feet up in front of the smart TV, or head up the stairs to the small library on the mezzanine, which opens straight into the living room below.

Every room also opens onto a shared verandah that runs the whole length of the homestay. It is one of our favourite spots. Perfect for sitting quietly with a morning coffee or an evening drink, watching the birds and the light change over the trees.
